Sarah Johnson

When I was dating Andy and first met Pearl I remember she said (in front of me of course): “Is she a member of the church?”  I don’t know why she asked because it didn’t seem to matter to her; from that point on she treated me like a friend.  I’ve watched her befriend many people over the nine years that I have known her.  I’ve listened to countless stories of kindness that she and Byron bestowed on many children and people in need.  She is an amazing example of a strong woman that has fought to keep her family together.  She remembers everything, she knows everything, and she will tell you what you are doing wrong!  When Andy and I first got married the only reason we religiously went to church was to spend time with Pearl and Paul.  I think she was the gardener of Heavenly Fathers seed for me to chose the right and raise my boys within the gospel.  I am honored to have met Pearl that afternoon in her kitchen and we will never know if I married Andy for his good looks or simply for Paul and Pearl’s Sunday cooking!

I remember meeting Pearl (Sharon's mom on our second date.  She was very nice and told us to have a good
time and to make sure that I got her home on time.  I said "yes ma'am".
On the dates that followed I always got her home on time, but not all the way to the door.  Sometimes we would stay in the car and "talk".  After about ten minutes the porch light would start flashing on and off.  That was my signal to cool it.

Sharon and her Mom were real buddies.  They went everywhere together, along with their buddy, Dr. Pepper.

I remember when grandma would come to visit us we always loved when she made her chocolate chip cookies.  She would always tell Trisha and I to stay out of the cookie dough it would give us worms and she would woop us with the wooden spoon.  When She would turn around to put the sheet of cookies in the oven we would be hiding under the bar with our spoons and hurry up to get a BIG scoop of cookie dough and duck back down under the bar. We thought we were so sneaky.  Years later Her and I were talking about it and found out she knew the whole time we were doing it.

When we were kids, Mom would drive in to the Jamison chapel every day.  Mom would have worked until 1:00 AM and get up at 5 AM and drive us.  Well one morning she had fallen asleep on the couch in the foyer.  All of a sudden she woke up, sat up and yelled “you kids better get up”.  We had a good laugh at our mother’s expense.  But I had perfect attendance because of my mother.  Thanks MOM
